An astrophotograph of the Elephant’s Trunk Nebula and two genuine fragments (Campo del Cielo and Gebel Kamil), brought together in a black frame with white mount.
In stock
This framed Elephant’s Trunk photo brings together two genuine fragments under the glass: Campo del Cielo and Gebel Kamil. The black frame and its white mount give the piece a gallery-style finish, with the fragments set in a white disc on the photo. It is therefore a one-of-a-kind piece, both decorative and scientific.
In Cepheus, about 2,400 light-years away, the Elephant’s Trunk (IC 1396A) is a column of gas and dust sculpted by the wind of a massive star – new stars are still forming inside it. To go further, our page on the Elephant’s Trunk Nebula also tells you more.
Thus, two fragments share the same disc. Campo del Cielo is an iron meteorite that fell about 4,000 years ago in northern Argentina. Gebel Kamil is a very nickel-rich iron meteorite from a small crater in the Egyptian desert. Each one also has its own certificate. You can also read our article: The story of the Campo del Cielo meteorite.
Thus, an astronomy lover will see it as both a decorative object and a real piece of space. Indeed, our meteorites come from members of the IMCA (International Meteorite Collectors Association). The certificates of authenticity also come with the frame, one per fragment: you will find them on the back. Our guide also explains what a meteorite certificate is for. Moreover, it is a one-of-a-kind piece: you receive the exact frame pictured. Finally, La Poste delivers your parcel with care, worldwide.
