A raw fragment of Gebel Kamil, the iron meteorite that dug the Kamil crater in the desert of south-western Egypt.
The 45-metre Kamil crater was spotted in 2008 on satellite images of the Egyptian desert. The excavations that followed yielded thousands of fragments of a very nickel-rich iron meteorite: Gebel Kamil. The impact, one of the best preserved in the world, is only a few thousand years old.
Each mini fragment keeps its torn edges and rusty patina, traces of the meteorite exploding on impact. In its box, it is the perfect first step into the world of meteorites, or a small gift that always impresses.
