An astrophotograph of the Saturn and a genuine Gebel Kamil meteorite fragment, brought together in a black frame with white mount.
In stock
This framed Saturn photo includes a genuine fragment of the Gebel Kamil meteorite, set under the glass. The black frame and its white mount give the piece a gallery-style finish, with the fragment set in a white disc on the photo. It is therefore a one-of-a-kind piece, both decorative and scientific.
Its rings span about 270,000 km yet are often less than a kilometre thick: Saturn, the sixth planet of the Solar System, is one of the finest sights in a telescope.
Gebel Kamil is a very nickel-rich iron meteorite recovered in 2009 around the Kamil crater in Egypt’s south-western desert. Satellite images revealed this 45-metre crater in 2008; it formed less than 5,000 years ago. You can also read our article: Where do meteorites come from?
Thus, an astronomy lover will see it as both a decorative object and a real piece of space. Indeed, our meteorites come from members of the IMCA (International Meteorite Collectors Association). The certificate of authenticity also comes with the frame: it stays visible at the front, under the glass. Our guide also explains what a meteorite certificate is for.
